I was pleasantly surprised by how soft the calfskin lining feels against my foot right out of the box. The leather sole is surprisingly flexible and gives a nice, natural step. A really well-made pair of shoes.

The Blake construction really does make a difference — these felt broken in from the first wear, no stiffness at all. The calfskin lining is buttery against the ankle, and the leather sole has just the right amount of grip for city sidewalks.

I was worried the double buckle would look bulky, but they sit flat and the black leather is butter-soft straight out of the box. The Blake construction really does feel flexible underfoot, no break-in ache at all. Wore them a full day at the office and forgot I had them on.
